    What is a Menu Time?

Simply put, a menu time is a logical division of a menu. Examples include "Lunch", "Dinner", and "Drinks".

All other objects in your online menu are contained within one or more menu times. Each menu time you create belongs to one or more restaurant locations. If you fail to assign a menu time to any locations, then that menu time will not be shown at all.

Menu times have start and end times, outside of which orders containing items from that menu cannot be placed.

Menu times also have activate and deactivate dates, which cause that menu time to be display only between the given dates. If these fields are left blank, the menu will always be shown.

Finally, menu times have a property that we call a Private Tag. This is a just a label, that is never shown to your customers, that can allow you to differentiate between two or more menu times with the same name. Although commonly you would never have two menu times with the same name, it is sometimes necessary. For example, if you have one restaurant location for your regular take-out menu and another separate location for a catering menu, you might need separate "Lunch" menu times for each location. You could create a private tag called "(Catering)" to let you quickly see which is which in the various different parts of your restaurant manager. Customers never see this.
